"A terrorist can affect more people on a train. One fully loaded BART train holds more
people than a 747."
- BART spokesman Linton Johnson on Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff's remarks that cities will have to
secure trains & buses largely on their own, because air safety is a higher priority.

Security is defined as “the quality or state of being secure;
freedom from danger…” In today's high risk world, security
risk assessment, vulnerability assessment and security monitoring have rapidly become an operational imperatives for many organizations.
The assessment of security vulnerability occurs in many facilities today
that never had to deal with the issues of homeland security equipment,
plant security, medical security, data center security or process security
management in the past. This demand for increased security, has
introduced new security furniture requirements for many of our customers
in a variety of industries. We now receive frequent inquiries for facility monitoring furniture in a variety of homeland security applications; from military
installations, bridges-harbor-cargo-port authorities for maritime security,
water wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, chemical plants, even
hospitals, and class-A high-rise commercial buildings.

room furniture. Our SecureVIEW® product line was
launched in early 2005 specifically to address these rapidly expanding
needs.
The project illustrated in the picture here is only a portion of the security
furniture installation we completed in early 2005, at the Texas Governor's Mansion
in Austin, TX. Our scope of work included 48in LoPro security consoles to support
their complex array of video surveillance security system equipment. Our standard,
modular, SecureVIEW® product line provided the supports for
LCD displays, large, touch-screen plasma monitors, digital video recorders, motion
detector cameras, and a multitude of other security cameras, wireless security cameras and video cameras. The cabinets below
the work surfaces on the security console units included both EIA racks, pull-out
style equipment trays, file & supply drawer modules, as well as adjustable
height shelves.
We also supplied many of our standard security furniture console accessories, such as our EIA Equipment
Garages (to sit under plasma displays for mounting various security equipment,
camera multiplexers and composite video switches), and a 72in long double-sided
worktable with pencil drawers on each side. The project included a number of
2 and 3 drawer high file drawer credenzas (with matching laminate inlays), printer
desk and single-operator security workstations.
